I was introduced to Dan DeWitt and his writing at a youth conference in 2017 and since then have enjoyed reading some of his other books like “Christ or Chaos” and “Life in The Wild.” His most recent book, “The Friend Who Forgives,” was released September 1st, 2018. I had the privilege of reading a pre-release version — pretty cool. I was excited to see how a children’s book authored by him would turn out. And, was encouraged to find that The Friend Who Forgives did not disappoint at all.
C.S. Lewis once said, “A children’s story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children’s story in the slightest.” The Friend Who Forgives, in my mind, is an excellent example of that. I love the way Dan communicates timeless truth in a way that can be grasped by both young and old hearts. Not only is the story communicated clearly but Catalina did a crazy good job illustrating. Spoiler alert, the chicken cracks me up — so funny. In all honesty, I have seen very few children’s books illustrated so creatively. Well done Catalina!
