I did not even know who Nick was until my roommate at the time sent me a text out of the blue one day saying, “Just found you a super sweet climbing buddy. He said he’ll probably find you on Facebook. I gave him your name. His name is Nick Harsh.” I was excited about the potential for a new climbing partner but did not know what to think about the situation because it felt like she was trying to set me up with Nick. My first thought was, “Who is this guy?” And my second thought was, “Hmmm…let’s just see where this goes.” I didn’t want to get my hopes up, so I shrugged it off while also secretly hoping he was as awesome as my roommate made him sound. The next day I got a message from Nick. He didn’t waste any time in messaging me on Facebook and inviting me to climb with him! The first time we went climbing together I knew that I liked him. He was fun, kind, and radiated the love of Jesus. From that point on we kept hanging out together, and about a month later he asked if I would be his girlfriend. I felt like (and still feel like) I was the luckiest girl in the world! We were dating only 20 days before I had to drop him off at the airport to visit a church plant and then I hopped on a plane to go overseas for two months. While I was away, the Lord used that time to grow and affirm my feelings for Nick. I knew that I loved him. It wasn’t long after I returned that Nick told me he loved me. After six months of dating, he asked my dad if he could marry me and then he proposed! It always annoyed me when people said “when you know you know” about finding the person you love, but that statement could not be more true. There has never been a doubt in my mind that Nicholas Harsh is the one I love and want to marry! From beginning to end our story has truly been one written by the Lord. Only He could have brought Nick into my life in His perfect timing and His perfect way.
